SCHOLARSHIPS

HELP IS AVAILABLE

The hearts of our graduates echo through the scholarship opportunities listed below.
Their years at Freeman Academy had a life-long impact. Now they are paying it forward as scholarship donors.
We are humbled and grateful. Our students are blessed. This legacy is passed on to the next generation.

Faith & Leadership Scholarship

Recipients will receive 40% off the regular high school tuition rate (renewable yearly according to guidelines) and a scholarship to attend summer leadership training through their denomination or an approved regional or national program.

1. High school students who currently do not attend Freeman Academy and will enter grades nine through twelve in the next school year.

2. A current GPA of 3.5 or above for students in high school; students who will enter grade nine will be evaluated based on middle school grades; homeschool students will be evaluated on grades, course content, and course work/testing.

3. Strong character, proactive towards faith growth, strong communication skills, a service orientation, and a desire to be an active participant in our school community.    

4. Demonstrated leadership in student’s current school, congregation, and/or community organizations.

5. Letter from pastor or youth group leader about student’s church involvement and character.

 

6. Current participation in a co-curricular and/or extra-curricular activity such as athletics, drama, music, band, 4H, Boy Scouts, etc.

1.     Scholarship recipients and their parents sign a scholarship participation agreement.

2.     Maintain a 3.5 GPA each year.

3.     Maintain growth in character, faith, communication skills, service, and be an active participant in our school community

4.     Each year the student focuses on one of the four areas in the table below and invests about 15 hours. Please note:

a.     Freeman Academy school activities cannot fulfill the scholarship requirements. Examples: school service trip, worship service designed by a Bible class, assigned writing and class projects, etc.

b.     Other opportunities or ideas for each area below can be discussed with administration.

c.      When practical, opportunities may be arranged for locations other than Freeman.

School Leadership

Community Engagement

Student Bible study leader. Spiritual Life Group devotion writer.  Chapel speaker, praise band member, or emcee.

Required – share scholarship experiences with an appropriate class or in Chapel during senior year.

Positions at church: nursery helper, library volunteer, praise band member, musician, Sunday school or vacation Bible school teacher or organizer. Volunteer at Christian ministries.

Class officer, Student Advisory Council, class project/fundraiser coordinator, teacher aide, administrative office aide

Help with civic group project, create project to benefit community need, volunteer with community organization

5. Summer Leadership Training Options:

a.     Attend one regional or national leadership camp or conference. The scholarship will cover registration for this event. National conferences for the student’s denomination are options.

b.     The event chosen must be approved by Freeman Academy.

c.      Serve as a camp counselor at a Christian camp. The scholarship provides a stipend for one week of service.

    Additional documents will be required for the winner(s) including references and school transcripts.

  2. Submit an essay (300 word limit) to the Development Director at development@freemanacademy.org
    Choose one of the following prompts:

    • How does a positive attitude play a role in leadership? Describe a leader you know who has responded to a challenge in a positive way.

    • Who is a leader you admire? Describe a person you know or someone you would like to know. How does he or she inspire you?

    • Are leaders born with leadership qualities or are those skills developed?

    • Describe a global or local issue you feel passionately about, and explain how you could lead others to follow your cause.

  1. Ask your pastor or youth group leader to write a brief letter describing your church involvement and character. Send it to the Development Director at development@freemanacademy.org.
  2. Finalists will be contacted for a personal interview with Freeman Academy administration

Sanctity of Life Scholarship

One recipient will receive $250 toward the upcoming school year.

Essays will be submitted at the end of the previous school year by currently enrolled students. Winners will be announced at the beginning of the school year.

Essays submissions will be accepted beginning April 1st by currently enrolled students. Winners will be announced at Convocation at the beginning of the next school year.

Edward & Alma Preheim scholarship

One recipient will receive $600 toward the upcoming school year.

Essays will be submitted at the end of the previous school year by currently enrolled students. Winners will be announced at the beginning of the school year.

Two recipients will receive $1500 toward the upcoming school year.
